It´s official: Revolution will be less powerful than XBox360 and PS3

By Nintendude under Satoru Iwata, Nintendo News

Ok, not so surprising news right? we all knew Nintendo Revolution would likely be last in terms of horsepower but Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata confirmed it a few days ago when he was interviewed at g4.

“”If you are just going to compare the spec sheets and spec numbers, Revolution may not have an equal or higher number as the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. But the fact of the matter is that if people are going to connect our machine and their machine to an ordinary TV set at home and try to compare the differences, I really don’t think that they can tell such a huge difference between the machines.”

This means that if you connect and compare the revoltion with one of the other consoles to a regular tv the graphics will look pretty much the same. The problem will come when people starts to get HD tv´s, then the difference will be easy to notice.

I think we´ll be seeing the consoles really going different ways in the next generation. Sony is going for more graphic power, Microsoft is betting for online gaming and Nintendo will keep being the most innovative company. Maybe we won´t even have a “console war” as we were all expecting.

New Game Boy Micro commercial

Game boy micro commercial

Wow, that´s too much pink. 1up has the new Game boy micro commercial wich will start airing soon and looks like Nintendo has a well defined strategy: they want to attract non-gamers, that includes girls, adults and some other people you wouldn´t usually imagine playing videogames.

Stargame 64

By Nintendude under Nintendo, Music, Oddities

Stargame64Check out the StarGame 64, this guitar / n64 controller was designed by Robin Wilson, lead singer of a group called Gin Blossoms and columnist for the Official US Playstation Magazine. This guitar is perfect if you just can´t separate your wanna-be rockstar dreams from your gaming.

Remember the pac-man guitar that was all over the internet a few of months ago? Looks like gaming and music are a good team, i mean, look at recent game soundtracks, sometimes they sell better than movie ones.

Batallion Wars and Mario Baseball get release date for Europe

Some official release dates for Europe were just announced by Nintendo, mark your calendars and start counting the days if you are interested in these games.

First we have Batallion Wars, this game has surprised a lot of people who weren´t expecting much since of this gamecube strategy game. Batallion wars has received good critics since it´s release on the US just a week ago and will be hitting european stores on December 11th. Why is this game shipping so late? i have no idea but it might be worth the wait.

Then there´s Mario Baseball, one of the Mario sports series games that are coming to the cube. This game will be available on November 11th.

The Grand List Of Console RPG Clichés

By Nintendude under RPG, Oddities

Project Apollo has an amazing list of classic clichés we find over and over in ebery single RPG. My favourites are these:

6.- Single Parent Rule
RPG characters with two living parents are almost unheard of. As a general rule, male characters will only have a mother, and female characters will only have a father. The missing parent either vanished mysteriously and traumatically several years ago or is never referred to at all. Frequently the main character’s surviving parent will also meet an awkward end just after the story begins, thus freeing him of inconvenient filial obligations.

18.- Crono’s Complaint
The less the main character talks, the more words are put into his mouth, and therefore the more trouble he gets into through no fault of his own.

21.- Aeris’s Corollary
Just as the main male character will always use a sword or a variant of a sword, the main female character will always use a rod or a staff of some sort.

40.- Zelda’s Axiom
Whenever somebody tells you about “the five ancient talismans” or “the nine legendary crystals” or whatever, you can be quite confident that Saving the World will require you to go out and find every last one of them.

140.- Law of NPC Relativity (Magus Rule)
Characters can accomplish superhuman physical feats, defeat enemies with one hand tied behind their back and use incredible abilities — until they join your party and you can control them. Then these wonderful powers all vanish, along with most of their hit points.

Check out the full list, it´s long but a really fun read.
