Jack Thompson gets kicked from Alabama courts

By Nintendude under Gaming News

Just a quick link with some fun news, check out what happened to Jack Thompson, the lawyer who became famous for his constant efforts to attack videogames and the gaming industry. The guy is hated for almost every single gamer in the globe. A judge rescinded Thompson’s license to practice law in Alabama because “Mr. Thompson’s actions before this Court suggest that he is unable to conduct himself in a manner befitting practice in this state”.

Yay for Alabama! :)

Mario Kart DS first week´s figures

Nintendo revealed some figures regarding the first week of sales for Mario Kart DS and let me tell you, the game is a total hit.

Beth Lewellyn, NOA Senior Director of Public Relations said this about the MKDS results:

“We are ecstatic with the results, and this definitely sets the standard for future Wi-Fi online gaming,Mario Kart should easily be a million seller in its life cycle, and we’d love for everyone with the game to touch the Wi-Fi experience. We’ve got Animal Crossing just around the corner, and Metroid Prime Hunters next year, with more to come.”

According to Nintendo the game has sold over 112,000 copies and 45% of the buyers have at least tried the wi fi connection. Great numbers for a first week, with the european release this week the numbers will go even higher.

NESamp mp3 player

By Nintendude under Gaming News

nesamp

Turning a NES controller into a mp3 player could look like a very difficult task but you know modders, they just like to take this kind of challenges.

A guy turned his cheap usb mp3 player into the NESamp. You can control the songs with the D-pad, play them by pushing start and even control the volume with the A and B buttons. You can follow his example and go Nintendo Style, how about playing the Ocarina of Time soundtrack with this player? That would be pretty cool.

Sims creator talks about the revolution

By Nintendude under Nintendo Revolution

Will Wright, creator of The Sims expressed his interest on the revolution in a recent interview with Shacknews.

“I’m really interested in the Revolution,” he said, “to see how the controller works out. That looks pretty cool. It looks very interesting to me. I like the idea of taking the games more outside the box and more into that close-body kind of space.”

Wright also discussed other subjects suchs as the DS and the PC gaming industry:

“The handheld space is interesting, how that’s developing with the DS in particular,” he went on. “The computer gaming side seems more about evolution and polish, but there’s still something to be said for that. Civ IV, which I’m looking forward to playing, I’m sure is a really excellent game. I haven’t played it yet, but I can’t wait to.”

Twilight Princess will be a really long game

By Nintendude under Twilight Princess, Zelda, Gamecube

tp logoA japanese gaming site is reporting that Twilight Princess, the next game on the Zelda series, will be featuring over 100 hours of gameplay!. That would make it the longest game of the series and probably, one of the longest adventure games ever.

A translation of the report is also stating that: “In other news of Twilight Princess, the newly added game mechanics (that have pushed the release date back), are supposedly the new benchmark for the Zelda series.

I know that all the delays will pay in the end and hopefully we will be seeing one of the best games ever but i just can´t wait to get my hands on it. I wonder what kind of game mechanics they are referring to, just in-game mechanics or maybe some extra funcionality to work with the wi fi connection and the revolution?.

Masahiro Sakurai to direct Smash Bros Revolution

By Nintendude under Super Smash Bros, Nintendo Revolution

You might remember Masahiro Sakurai, he was the director of the original N64 Super smash bros and he´s also known for his work on Kirby games. Sakurai left Nintendo a few years ago when he was up to build his own company but know he has announced that he will come back to direct the SSBM sequel for the revolution. I´m sure he will do a great job, he has a great rsponsability in his hands since the game will probably be the most expected Revolution game.

DS redesign mock-ups

By Nintendude under Nintendo DS
nds mockup

“As soon as [the DS] was launched, we started looking at ways to tweak it visually”

Those were the exact words Reggie told to CNN when he was interviewed last week. It means we can expect to see a Game Boy SP like redesign for the DS. Joystiq has started a mock-up compilation and some of the ideas are great. For example the picture looks interesting. This design would protect both screens but it would allow a thinner and lighter overall design. You can find the full gallery in this post.
