Nintendo Wants In On Movie Playback

By Nintendude under Gaming News

Movie playback is just one of those things I never found appealing with a handheld gaming system. No doubt that the PSP’s ability to play movies and television shows is cool, but come on. Who finds it practical to watch those movies on that tiny screen?
Apparently, Nintendo does.

DSVision (which for now is exclusively in Japan) is the name for the service, and what it is, in essence, is a microSD card that you insert into a DS cartridge, and then load it onto the console. Movies, TV Programs, Comics and even e-books will be able for use on the device.

While it is unknown what codecs Nintendo will use, and the card will initially be available only in Japan. The Starter Pack will contain the DS cartridge adapter and a 512MB microSD card. The starting asking price is ¥4000 ($36), and so far no mention of a US release has been announced.

Wiifit, losing those extra pounds with your Wii

By Nintendude under Gaming News

wiifit

The last thing announced at the E3 Keynote was Wiifit, wich can only be defined as an excercise board for the Wii.

The board is able to measure your weight and the pressure you apply onto it making it an awesome device to work out but the last part is what caught my interest, it is also able to measure the balance of your whole body making it a perfect fit for other type of games that will allow you to make full use of your body, how cool would it be to be able to use it as a surf board!.

The board will include a game featuring over 40 activities and excercises to help you get fit.

Jack Thompson gets kicked from Alabama courts

By Nintendude under Gaming News

Just a quick link with some fun news, check out what happened to Jack Thompson, the lawyer who became famous for his constant efforts to attack videogames and the gaming industry. The guy is hated for almost every single gamer in the globe. A judge rescinded Thompson’s license to practice law in Alabama because “Mr. Thompson’s actions before this Court suggest that he is unable to conduct himself in a manner befitting practice in this state”.

Yay for Alabama! :)

NESamp mp3 player

By Nintendude under Gaming News

nesamp

Turning a NES controller into a mp3 player could look like a very difficult task but you know modders, they just like to take this kind of challenges.

A guy turned his cheap usb mp3 player into the NESamp. You can control the songs with the D-pad, play them by pushing start and even control the volume with the A and B buttons. You can follow his example and go Nintendo Style, how about playing the Ocarina of Time soundtrack with this player? That would be pretty cool.

Hideo Kojima´s blog now in english

By Nintendude under Gaming News

In case you don´t know who Hideo Kojima is (have you been living under a rock the last few years?), then let me explain you that he is one of the most recongnized producers of the gaming industry, he´s the man behind Metal Gear Solid and other great games. He recently announced he´s working on some projects for the revolution wich is great news for us Nintendo fans.

A few weeks ago, Kojima launched his own personal blog where he´s been writing regularly about the gaming industry and just as in any other blog, about a lot of random stuff. The fact the blog was only available in japanese was a shame, but now this has changed and his blog has an english version.

The posts are still out of date, the last entry is currently from September 29th. Let´s hope they catch up with the dates.

Check out the site and find that for some reason Kojima likes to start his posts talking about the weather.
