Spielberg to direct EA games

By Nintendude under EA, Steven Spielberg, Gaming News

Hollywood directors love videogames. A few weeks ago Peter Jackson signed a deal to produce the Halo movie wich will be hitting theaters on 2007, now EA has announced that Steven Spielberg will be directing 3 games for the in the next few years, these games will not be movie spin-offs, they´ll be original ideas and concepts specially written by Spielberg for the games.

There was no word on what kinf of projects Spielberg will work on but i´m sure we can expect games with a really deep storyline, some fiction elements and a lot of full motion videos. Hopefully some of these projects will see the light on Nintendo´s consoles.

News Corp buys IGN

By Nintendude under Gaming News

News corporation, owner of some big information and media companys such as the NY Post and Fox News announced today that they´ve come to an agreement to buy IGN and it´s network of gaming sites wich includes Gamespy, Direct2drive and Gamestats among others for $650 million.

Rupert Murdoch, CEO of News Corp. is putting a lot of money on the web, they also acquired MySpace.com recently.

How is this going to affect those sites? I have no idea but i think this is interesting for the gaming indutry. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of the year.

Another ratings controversy: Killer 7 this time

By Nintendude under Killer 7, Gaming News

We all have heard about the “hot coffe” controversy and how people managed to take advantage of videogames popularity to appear on tv. In the end, GTA got an AO rating and i think we all knew it wouldn´t end there.

Florida attourney, Jack Thompson who has been involved in several cases against videogames has new target: Killer7. He´s made a petition to the ESRB to change Killer 7´s rating form M (Mature) to AO.

i Think it´s ok to give the games an AO rating if they deserve it but is there something in Killer 7 that might offend a 17+ year old? I don´t think so.

I think we´ll be seeing more on this on the next daysso stay tuned. IGN has excerpts from the e-mail Thompson sent to Patricia Vance, president of the ESRB.

Capcom wants to pull out Resident Evil 5 trailer

By Nintendude under Resident Evil, Gaming News

Resident Evil 5This is just weird, Capcom has asked to remove any sign of movies or stills taken from the Resident Evil 5 trailer. The trailer was not supposed to be out yet, actually, it wasn´t supposed to be even filmed yet.

Capcom has said they release and air the official trailer in the near future, but well, since we knoe the near future might be as close as 2006, you can still get the trailer here.

It´s not really a clever request from Capcom if what they really want is to stop people from watching the trailer, asking to pull something off the internet always has the opposite effect and is just plain impossible, however, some sites such as IGN have listened to Capcom and removed both trailers and screenshots.

Prince of Persia 3 - Development Diary

Prince of persia 3

Gametrailers has a really cool developer diary of Prince of Persia 3. Ben Mattes producer of the game talks about where this game is going focusing mainly on how they built the city of Babylon where POP 3 will be set.

I really like these “diaries”, they are the “making the video” of the gaming world. You can watch the video here.

Josie Maran to star NFS: Most Wanted

Josie MaranGood news for all of us who enjoy good looking girls in games, EA has signed a deal with model and actress Josie Maran to be featured as a character and the cover girl for Need for speed: Most Wanted.

Last time, on NFSU 2, Brooke Burke played an in game character and Josie will be doing pretty much the same, “EA has created a new process that takes Hi-Definition footage of live actors and converts them into synthetic-looking videogame characters”, thanks to that, she will be playing a street racer called Mia.

So, you don´t know who Josie Maran is? well maybe you´ve seen her recently as Maybelline´s cover girl, she also acted in movies such as Van Helsing and Aviator.

I´m sure this won´t be the last time we see models or other celebrities featuring in games, it´s been working really good for EA in their sports games, i mean, every year we are waiting to see who´s getting the cover of Madden even when they are not nearly as good looking as the babes they are signing for the Need for speed series.

By Nintendude under Resident Evil, Gaming News

Resident Evil 5

Great News, the next installement of the Resident Evil series will be going multiplatform at least for the 360 and PS3. This will be the first Resident Evil ever seen on a Microsoft´s console.

There is no word on wheter the game will be launched also for the Nintendo Revolution but i think the chances are good and there´s not an ofiicial announcement only because of the lack of information about Nintendo´s console.

Famitsu also released the image above which would be featuring, according to rumours the main character for the game.

Update: There´s actually a teaser of the game. Sorry i didn´t know that before, you can watch it here.
