Discovering Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery

By Nintendude under Nintendo DS

One of the Nintendo games that were released on March 4, 2008 is called Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery. If you wish to play Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery by yourself you can do so on your Nintendo DS controller, but if you would like some camaraderie while playing the online game is designed to be played by a maximum of 4 players. Parents will be pleased to know that Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery was given the family friendly rating of E for everyone.

What is Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery?

Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery is an excellent game for people who love strategy games. Unlike so many games that are set in never before heard of worlds and rely heavily on monsters, space ships, and espionage as their plot, Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery went back in time. Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery sends you back in time, to a place when the world was full of just two types of people; heroes and ruffians. While you are there, you will be able to create your very own empire.

How Do You Play?

When you are playing Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery you will have to think like Christopher Columbus. Your job will be to discover new worlds. Once you have found these new worlds, you will have to create settlements from scratch, eventually turning them into a flourishing empire that you rule over. Of course, you will have to endure several hardships along the way.

What are the Graphics Like?

The graphics department spared no expense when they were working on Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery. Everything is brightly colored and very cheerful. It makes the past feel like a warm sunny place to live. The game is full of tiny house, advancing armies, and brilliant blue oceans. The amount of details used on the characters (who are human and not alien) is incredible.

Guitar Hero coming to DS as Guitar Hero: On Tour?

By Nintendude under Guitar Hero, Nintendo DS

Besides the fact that we know a portable version of Guitar Hero will be making its way to the Nintendo DS, we really know little else. Red Octane’s Charles Huang had insinuated that the game might take advantage of a peripheral, but clearly that’s not necessary for a portable Guitar Hero experience.

Some new information has come to light, and unfortunately, it may just be the game’s name. Trademork.com has uncovered a Activision’s trademark filing for “Guitar Hero On Tour,” which really could be anything. But given this French Web site’s listing of Guitar Hero: On Tour for release on the Nintendo DS later this year (via GoNintendo), we’re just putting two and two together.

Games like Elite Beat Agents and even Daigasso! Band Brothers have proven that decent (if not great) rhythm games could be successful on the DS.

Full DS game downloads coming to Wii network

By Nintendude under Wii, Nintendo, Nintendo Rumors, Nintendo DS

Category: Wii Xbox 360 Playstation 3 | Leave a Comment
Everyone remember about a month ago when Nintendo announced their “Everyone’s Nintendo Channel”? It featured videos, interviews, and — seemingly most importantly — DS demos for wireless download. Yeah? Fantastic. Most people, on hearing about “Everyone’s Nintendo Channel” remarked that it was a fairly neat idea, and that it had potential, that being of full DS title downloads.

Those keen eyed oracles of inevitable development are soon to be rewarded with a round of watercooler gloatery, thanks to Reggie Fils-Aime. The New York Times reports the Nintendo exec of stating full DS title download via the Wii is soon to come and further makes mention of a “new DS device” saying specifically, “Mr. Fils-Amie said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console. Complete games as well as game samplers will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred.

Iwata says more “practical” functions are coming to the DS

By Nintendude under Satoru Iwara, Nintendo DS

iwata.jpgThe Wall Street Journal interviewed Satoru Iwata and got some interesting tidbits about what we might be able to see for the DS in the future.

Without giving many details, Iwata told the WSJ that more “practical” functions are coming to the DS wich will come useful in train stations, parks, museums, etc.

What do you think this means? I´m guessing they are thinking about some kind of note-taking features or maybe hotspots where you can download information directly to your device and save it. Lots of ideas come to my mind and it´s going to drive me nuts until they reveal more details.

5 reasons to get a DS before the holidays

By Nintendude under Nintendo DS

We just entered the fourth quarter of the year. Presumably the best season for us gamer since most of the biggest launches are close to the holiday season and 2007 is no exception with some really good games coming for both Nintendo and non-Nintendo consoles.

With all these big games coming i tought it would be a good idea to make a list of the top reason why you should have a Nintendo DS for this season if you haven´t got one yet. All of them come in a pretty game package of course:

###1.- Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Phantom HourglassRelease date: October 1 (October 19 for Europe)
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Nintendo

Probably the most expected game of the year for the DS. The art is very similar to what we saw on Wind Waker wich despite the controversy turned out to be great.

Being the first real Zelda game on the DS the expectations for this game are really big and i can´t wait to see what Nintendo was able to do using the touch-screen controls and all the classic characters, objects and mythology that surround the series.

The game is out in Japan already and it got some good reviews.

### 2.- Mario & Sonic at the Olimpic Games
Mario and Sonic at the olympic games Release Date: November 20
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Sega

If only for the fact that it is the consumed dream of many Mario and Sonic fans out there, you have to give this game a shot. Altough lots of us would rather see them fighting at Super Smash Bros Brawl, it will be cool to finally be able to find if the hedgehog is really as good as our favourite plumber at Olympic games.

The game will feature events such as Fencing, archery and swimming wich sound like lots of fun on the DS.

### 3.- Archaic Sealed Heat
ASHRelease Date: October 4 (Japan)
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: Mystwalker

Ok, this is me being optimistic and praying to the gods to let us get this game before the end of the year.

ASH looks amazing, for starters, it will be the first game on the DS to be launched on a bigger game card due to the fact that those awesome graphics couldn´t fit in a regular one.

The game is basically a strategical RPG which makes some good use of the DS touchscreen controls.

A launch date for America hasn´t been announced yet but since a lot of people will probably just import it, i added it to the list.

### 4.- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of DutyRelease Date: Remember, remember the fifth of November
Publisher: Activision
Developer: n-Space

If you have enjoyed the Call of Duty series so far but are getting tired of the World-War II setup, this game is for you. Modern Warfare will be the first game of the series to have a new look with a storyline based on a modern world.

The controls are one of my biggest worries for this one. I haven´t really enjoyed any FPS on the DS so far but if they can make it work i´m sold.

### 5.- Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
Ninja Gaiden DSRelease Date: November 2
Publisher: Tecmo
Developer: Team Ninja

Ryu Hayabusa is finally back on a Nintendo console and i´m glad he is here to push the boundaries of the DS.

The graphics of Dragon Sword look really good despite being the first shot of team ninja at the console. Those guys really know how to make a game look good.

Hopefully the gameplay will be great as well and if it succeds, it wouldn´t surprise me if Tecmo decides to try some luck at the Wii next.

Archaic sealed heat japanese tv spot

By Nintendude under Archaic sealed heat, Nintendo, Nintendo DS

Here´s a japanese tv spot of Archaic sealed heat. Ths SRPG has the most amazing graphics we´ve seen on the DS and it looks like the. gameplay will not be left behind using the touchscreen to actually hit the enemies instead of just watching the fireworks like in any other regular RPG.

I want this game so badly it hurts. It just hurts.

New Final Fantasy IV info revealed

ffiv_jump.jpg

The latest issue of Jump magazine featured some new Final Fantasy IV news, you can see the scan above. If you don´t know japanese (neither do i, so don´t worry) our riend over at siliconera traslated it.

Apparently one of the new features of the game is that you will be able to inherit the special abilities of former party members. if you remember the original version, every character was able to make some special move, for example, Palom & Porom were able to use Twin Magic but once they left your party their abilities went with them. In this new version you will be able to teach those abilities to another character so you can continue using them

New Ninja Gaiden DS screens look awesome

Just so yo can start drooling waiting for this game to come, here are some screens of the oh so smartly named Ninja Gaiden **D**ragon **S**word where we can see how awesome it´s going to look.

I´m really starting to see a trend of publishers exploiting all the graphic potential of the DS and i like it.

Archaic Sealed Heat japanese boxart

By Nintendude under RPG, Nintendo DS

ash-boxartf.jpg

This is without any doubt the most beautiful game the DS has ever seen and if you haven´t heard about it you should start counting the days to it´s release.

Archaic Sealed Heat (ASH for short) will pack some really cool graphics, so much that it will have to be released on a card with more capacity than the ones used in every other DS game.

This strategic RPG will hit Japan this October and hopefully the US really soon, here´s the official boxart wich looks really good.

Europe gets silver DS

By Nintendude under Nintendo DS

metsil_lite_eu.jpg

Rejoice my friend on the other side of the world, you are getting a new DS color soon.

The silver DS was launched in japan not so long ago along with the metallic pink version and it looks like Europe will be getting it really soon in exchange for the Brain Age special edition.

Am i the only one who would trade de dual colored version for this one? it looks great IMHO.
