Strikers gets renamed

Mario smash footballNintendo Europe has announced Super Mario Strikers, the soccer game from the mario sports series has been renamed as Mario Smash Footbal. I kinda liked Strikers better but i think the name change has something to do with Smash Melee success. Let´s just hope we don´t see Super Mario Smash Rugby Melee in the near future.

Mario Smash Football is part of the Mario sports series. Back at e3 Nintendo showed a lot of upcoming Mario and friends games playing a lot of sports, from baseball to tennis and even a dance game.

I´m not exactly a soccer fan but the game looks fun, there´s still no word on the realease date but it is possible that MSF will be on the shelves by the end of this year.

Satoru Iwata will talk at TGS

By Nintendude under Satoru Iwata, Nintendo News

Satoru IwataSome time ago, we mentioned Nintendo will not be attending this year´s TGS, however, Nintendo´s president, Satoru Iwata will be participating with a 50 minute speech on September 16th.

This will be the second time Iwata participates at the Toky Game show and everyone is getting their hopes up.

Is this the big announcement when everything about the revolution will be revealed? I don´t think so but i hope i´m wrong.

By Nintendude under Game Boy Micro, Game Boy, Nintendo News

Game Boy Micro
The littlest one from the Game Boy family, the Game Boy Micro, has an official release date, at least for Japan. Today, Nintendo of Japan announced the console will be on stores on September 13th and as expected it won´t come alone.

Mario Tennis advance and a double cartridge containing both, Dr. Mario & Panel De Pon, and the 20th Anniversary Edition of Super Mario Bros will launch on the same date.

US and Europe releases are expected by the end of the year but there´s no official date yet.

Miyamoto talks: Revolution, Wi-Fi and more

Shigeru Miyamoto DSShigeru Miyamoto gave some extra details on the revolution on a recent interview to EGM, we are getting used to not expecting a lot from recent interviews where nintendo people just discuss little details and this is not the exception.

He talked a bit about the games they could be planning for the upcoming console hinting new Pikmin and Luigi´s mansion sequels: “Nothing’s set in stone yet, but the interface we’re creating for the Revolution is well suited to Pikmin”.

Miyamoto san also talked a bit about the Wi-Fi possibilities, as expected, the Revolution will connect to the DS and he also said the console won´t have an Ethernet port, just the USB we already know about.

He also answered some questions about the critics regarding the graphics and the lack of built-in DVD support.

I don´t know why the critics on the graphics keep coming, i mean, we still don´t even know the specs and we certainly haven´t seen in game graphics.

You can read more of this interview at Eurogamer.

Worms are coming to the DS

By Nintendude under Worms DS, Nintendo DS, Nintendo News

Worms DSThe little worms who enjoy killing each other with flying sheeps are coming to both portable gaming consoles accoriding to a recent announcement.

THQ and Team 17 are already on the works to bring a version of Worms to the Nintendo DS and the PSP.

This sounds like a great idea, i really enjoyed the original version of worms for the PC and i think with the multiplayer capabilities of both versions this could be a really fun game if it gets done right.

There are not details about a release date or even the kind of gameplay the game will be featuring but i´m sure we´ll be hearing about that soon.

No godfather for the cube

According to this article at Yahoo news, The godfather has been delayed until March, 2006. This means a 5 mont delay from it´s original launch date but there´s also one more thing: There will be no Gamecube´s version. This is really weird coming from Electronic Arts since most of their game are for every single console.

There are rumours that EA could have made an agreement with Microsoft and Sony and this will not be the last time we hear this kind of news.

The godfather will be released for PS2, XBox, PC and a next generation version is on the works.

Shame on you EA!.

Nintendo Revolution will not be revealed at TGS

By Nintendude under Nintendo Revolution, Nintendo News

Tokyo Game ShowAccording to the Tokyo Game show 2005 exhibitor´s list, Nintendo won´t show up for the event. This wouldn´t be the first time they do this since they have skipped the TGS before.

This probably means we won´t be seeing info on the Revolution and since there are not big events remaining in the gaming industry for this year i wouldn´t be surprised if we don´t see a lot of Nintendo´s next gen console until next year. A extra conference is not discarded yet, most likely this would happen on Xbox 360 launch month but i wouldn´t get my hopes up.

TGS is scheduled for September 16 to September 18, this event is like the japanese version of the e3 important developers like Capcom and Bandai will be assisting to show games that as usual are not expected to launch in America.

Rare looking for Nintendo DS developers

By Nintendude under Rare, Nintendo DS, Nintendo News

Rare logoRare has posted in their official site a new job opening. The job description tells pretty much everything:

“GAMES PROGRAMMERS (NINTENDO DS):
Must be motivated, enthusiastic and skilled in C/C++ to join our dedicated handheld team, recently nominated for a Develop Industry Excellence Award. 3D skills also an advantage in creating high-profile titles for this unique system.”

You can send them an application form wich is available at their site.

This is also a sign that Rare could be developing more than one game for the DS. I really hope we can see the good old Rare back joining Nintendo again at least for some games.
